- Copies electronic documents from the client's storage medium (jaz, CD, tape, etc.) to the AIS network. This exact duplicate is our master. We never touch the original again.
- Extracts data out of all types of archive files, i.e. zip files, PSTs (mail archives), etc.

- Creates a database that records metadata and important file information.
